iQn – Auditory Stimulation Modules

The iQ4 and iQ2 are TDT’s premier auditory stimulation modules made for the iCon platform. Combine an iQn stimulator with other iCon modules to make a system perfectly tuned for your specific research needs!

The iQn family of auditory stimulation amplifiers are designed to play sound stimuli at common file sampling rates up to 400 kHz. The iQn uses specialized proprietary sampling techniques to play out user-defined or Synapse programmed waveforms up to ultrasonic frequencies while the base iCon processor runs at a slower rate to minimize processor demand. This means that you can use the iQ4 or iQ2 with our popular and powerful Parameter Sequencer gizmo, or perform parallel signal processing on neuronal signals and behavioral input with ease.

The iQn stimulator offers over 100dB of signal fidelity and utilizes built-in analog attenuators for over 140dB of dynamic range. Best of all, the modules include high-performance speaker amplifiers that will drive most loud speakers as well as the TDT MF1 magnetic speaker.

Synapse Software

The iQ4 and iQ2 are fully integrated into Synapse with features like automatic sample rate locking, API attenuation, input mixing, and calibration file selection. Control up to four DAC outputs each with their own FIR filters for calibrated multi-speaker sound arrays.

Combine this with upstream Auditory Stimulation gizmos to generate tones, Gauss noise, modulated noise, and more. You can also use the Ultrasonic File Stimulation gizmo to generate arbitrary waveforms that you created in MATLAB®, Python, Adobe Audition®, or other programs.
