iDn – Digital Headstage Recording Amplifiers

The iD2 and iD3 digital interface modules are cost-effective high channel count electrophysiology Intan® and NeuroPixels® recording solutions for the iCon platform.  Combine these with other iCon modules to make a system perfectly tuned for experimental needs!

The iDn family of recording amplifiers are designed for simple user setup so you can focus on acquiring large neural datasets with ease. Full bandwidth data streams are acquired up to 25 kHz and saved directly into the TDT data tank alongside the rest of your experimental data. Everything is synchronized on the same clock so there is no post-hoc alignment needed.

This low-cost recording solution is the easiest way to record multichannel electrophysiology.  Contact us today and tell us about your research. We will show you how the iD2 or iD3 will fit perfectly into your current and future experimental designs.

iD2 Digital Headstage Interface

The ID2 iCon module is a 256-channel recording system that lets users acquire INTAN® digital data at a low-cost system with the use of multiple digital headstage designs.  Capture single-units and local field potentials at a data rate up to 25kHz. Process any 16-channels for real-time spike sort or closed loop control, such as triggering optogenetic pulses based on theta or gamma oscillations.

The ID2 works seamlessly with TDT digital headstages. Connect to our digital ZIF or standard Omnetics based INTAN® headstages and use TDT’s commutators to minimize tangling and damage to the headstage cable. Add on the iCon video module (IV2) for real-time video tracking.

You can also check out this iD2 Product Flyer or our Technical Documentation for more details.

Synapse Software

Synapse provides users with complete control of their real-time recording signals. You can process the data downstream with filters, spike sorting, thresholding, and closed-loop feedback. Synapse’s “all-in-one-place” approach lets you combine simple recording processes with more complicated parallel processing of other signals and hardware to make the exact experiment you need for your research.

iD3 NeuroPixels® Interface

The iD3 is an iCon digital amplifier designed to record from the NeuroPixels® 1.0 or NHP probes. Combine the high-density recording capabilities of the NP probes with TDT’s unparalleled software flexibility and hardware synchronization for an experience unlike any other system. Record up to 384 channels with user-defined regions and patterns along the probe shank. This is a perfect low-cost solution for any lab who wants to incorporate NeuroPixels® into their experimental protocol.

Research Uses

  • High density neural recordings
  • Functional and structural mapping
  • Attention tasks
  • Social Behavior

Core Features

  • Record from up to 384 channels on the NP1.0 and NeuroPixels® NHP probes
  • Customize electrode recording regions with user-defined electrode patterns
  • Clock-synchronized recording streams to time lock experimental events to neuronal responses
  • Automatically configure probe calibration files
  • User-selected focus channels for data visualization and closed-loop control

Synapse Software

Easily add your NeuroPixels® probe, calibration file, and configure recording sites with our site selection GUI.

Synapse lets users stream full bandwidth data to disk and pick up to 16 focus channels for plotting and saving. Users can also optionally select up to four channels of real-time streaming data for closed-loop control.

Synapse provides users with complete control of their real-time recording signals. You can process the data downstream with filters, spike sorting, thresholding, and more. Synapse’s “all-in-one-place” approach lets you combine simple recording processes with more complicated parallel processing of other signals and hardware to make the exact experiment you need for your research.
