TDT’s product family for fiber photometry, imaging, and optogenetics is called LUX. The LUX platform provides a comprehensive solution for real-time, multi-site, and multi-subject photometry or optogenetic experiments.

Important LED Safety Information

Use caution when operating LUX LEDs. High-power light output from the LUX LEDs can be harmful to the eyes and skin. Never look directly at any LED light output, either from the LED module directly or from the output of a connected optical cable. For ultra-violet (UV) LEDs (415 nm and lower), extra precaution must also be taken to avoid direct light exposure to skin. Protective eyewear, such as these from ThorLabs, should be worn when operating LEDs.

LUX Photosensors

TDT LUX integrated photosensors have a wide bandwidth and gain for detecting fluorescent response signals in a large variety of fiber photometry applications. They also have a large voltage range to avoid sensor saturation. TDT LUX photosensor components require no external batteries or connectors when used with the RZ10X processor.

LUX Power Meter

The PMI Power Meter takes the guesswork out of your fiber photometry setup. Prior to recording, measure the power of your rig and optimize your signal. TDT’s Fiber Photometry Gizmo displays power output, light loss, and distortion.

LUX Cable Kit

The LUX Cable Kit has been optimized for fluorophore stimulation and detection for two and three LED configurations.

Includes:
  • Drive Cables (small diameter):

    • Connects the LEDs to the optical filter
    • Minimizes the potential for photobleaching of fluorophores
  • Response Cable (large diameter):

    • Connects the optical filter to the PS1
    • Maximizes the fluorophore signal
  • Subject Cable (low autofluorescent):

    • Connects the optical filter to the Power Meter
    • Measures power output
