SpikePac macro compatibility.

Note #: 0860

Product: SpikePac

Version: 2.10

Date Added:  07/29/09

Issue:

Changes to SpikePac control sets vary between version 1.0 and 2.10. This includes the removal of WindowSort and the addition of BoxSort for version 2.10 as well as various enhancements to PCSort. Version 1.0 SpikePac power macros are not supported by version 2.10 OpenEx.

Workaround:

Version 70 of RPvdsEx includes an update feature for power macros that is similar to the update feature for regular macros. When an existing circuit is opened, RPvdsEx checks to see if any of the power macros contained within the circuit are out-of-date by comparing the build date with the circuits last modified date. Circuits that were created or last modified before version 70 was released (7/13/09) will prompt a dialog that asks the user if they wish to update any out-of-date power macros.

Note: if the circuit was modified after 7/13/09 you will not be prompted to reload any power macros and manual updates of all power macros must be performed.

To update an OpenEx project which uses an older version of SpikePac:

  1. If prompted, automatically update the power macros:

    a. Select
Yes to update the power macros in the circuit to the latest version.

  2. If the circuit was saved/modified after 7/13/09, manually reload all existing power macros in the circuit.

    a. Right click a power macro and select Reload from Disk on the shortcut menu.

    b. After updating all power macros contained within the circuit, save the circuit.

  3. In the OpenProject window, select the Workbench icon.

  4. In OpenWorkbench, reload the circuit to hardware in OpenWorkbench. This will reload the control sets for OpenController.

  5. In the OpenProject window, select the Controller icon.

  6. In OpenController, replace all existing SpikePac control sets with the newly reloaded versions by selecting them from the Controls | Power macro menu.

  7. Save the Project.

  8. If you are having trouble running existing projects from version 2.9 OpenEx after updating to version 2.10, see tech note 0859.
